Main Lake

Our main lake covers approximately 6 acres, originally an old pit it now also serves as a balancing pond to manage water levels for the river Gade and The Grand Union Canal. The lake bed is mainly Silt, although with a good led around you will find some gravel spots. The last few years have seen an explosion of weed growth, there is a comprehensive management plan in place, which is heavily reliant on members to volunteer to assist! We're in June 2026 now and the weed is vastly improved versus prior year and the lake is fishing really well.

We estimate there are approximately 200 carp in the lake, many of which are stunning old fish with beautiful dark colours, the majority of fish you catch will be mid to upper doubles, largest known fish are a stunning leather carp at 24lb and a mirror carp at 24.8lb. SInce 2023 we have been able to stock 135 new carp from VS Fisheries, they were stocked on average at around 10lb, sensible numbers are added each winter and growth rates monitored. These fish are already showing impressive weight gains of around 4lb per year, with a good number of fish now above 20lb. Once again we will be adding more fish this winter to continue improving this lake for our members. 

With hot running water and a toilet on site, overnighters and longer sessions are possible, there is also the security of the complex being fenced all round behind locked gates with on site car parking at both ends of the lake.
